Hi,

Installed the directory plugin, looked good, set up catorgaries etc. Went to test and add a link and booom., 500 server error. No idea why but my .htaccess file had changed from RewriteRule . /index.php to RewriteRule . /index.ph

Thankfully I backup.

So changed the rewrite back, now when i hit the add a link button, or infact any button or cat link it simply fires me back to the index page.

any ideas???

thanks

I created the link directory page and the link to that page shows on my homepage as expected. However when I go to the Link Directory page every link on that page simply send me back to my homepage. There seems to be no way to set link categories up nor add links.

Thanks for a great plugin. I unfortunately got stuck in problems with the permalinks and all links in the plugin leads to the index page.

Current status:
*Plugin: Other options -> permalink structure is empty (have tested typing "links" and other short words)
*Tested posting the plugin both on a page and in a post. It worked initially on the post on test, but not when published, and has never worked since neither on test or in live. The post is added in a new category with a different name than the post. The post slug name is "directory".
*The permalink settings on the site is /%category%/%postname%. This I do not want to change if not absolutely needed.
*Example of link that is not working is the "Add URL" link. In this case the permalink is domain.com/categoryname/postname?act=addsite
*wordpress 2.9.2

Any tips on how to get the plugin to work, will it be possible with my set up?

Thanks in advance.

I've recently installed the Wordpress Link directory 1.8.2 plugin on www.blog.freebustarvel.co.uk/ - 'where to apply'

I am very impressed with the system, the presentation looks very professional. I have a couple of issues,

1. I have about 200 links in there divided between about 6 Categories - if I want to edit links the process is slow while you wait for the whole list of links to relaod each time -(might have something to do with my broadband speed) but it becomes very time consuming if you have a number of links to amend. is there any way of overcoming this - it could help if it were possible to edit links in 1 category at a time.
2. I would like to use the system for a 2nd page of links in the same website, is this possible ?

Hi Sean, Great script thankyou.

I am wondering would it be possible to fully display the links without categories & without having to click the “More Info”. I don’t think anyone really wants to look at a page full of text & to have the default display as showing the thumbshot etc I think is a better set up (for me anyway).

Also is it possible to have the directory viewed by anyone, but only members may add a link…? This step would help to reduce spammers I think.

I have also noticed that if the requirement for a reciprical link is not met, it does not stop people adding their link,it just sends the link for approval…? Would it not be possible to get the script to automatically refuse any attempt to add a link unless it has checked & found a reciprical link already in place.

Other than these few minor adjustments it is working fine on WP 2.7.1 & gets a big thumbs up!

Regards Steve

Hi Sean & Members,
I have this link directory up & running without any problems (lucky me eh), but what I was wondering is would it be possible to create a far more aesthetically pleasing display when viewing the directory..?

At present you select a category and then get simply lines of text, usually one per link, unless of course you click on the "more info" link.
What I was wondering is would it be possible to display the Site Screenshot, Site PR, Title, URL & Description as the default & then have Category & everything after it display by clicking the "more info" link...?

I think this would make a far more interesting & pleasing display of the directory links than the current method.

Regards Taffy

These tips will enable you to get the best out of online dissertations:

1. The Dearth of Ideas: It will really help if you are passionate about your subject matter. It took me seven long months to determine what I am passionate about. Before you log onto the internet and make an unfocused research of finding online dissertations that do not interest you, I strongly suggest you to be clear and 100% sure of what is the subject or topic you are passionate about. Once you have identified your interest, it will be extremely beneficial to go through online dissertations to spark new ideas relating to your subject matter.

2. Availability of References & Sources: Finding appropriate references & sources can be a hurdle and online dissertations allow you to overcome this problem. Using appropriate referencing is immensely crucial. You will be able to get a lot of references through dissertations available online as not having proper references and sources will indeed slow your dissertation writing process. You can go through the bibliography and read in-text citations to avail new references and sources. This way you will be able to improve the credibility of your dissertation.

3. Improve the Outlook: Going through the online dissertations will help you embellish your dissertation with a great look and improve its credibility as the appearance does make a big difference. You will also discover how to combine different parts of your dissertation together.

Online Dissertations are extremely helpful and can be a great learning experience. Going through the online dissertations and learning all the necessary parts will allow you to write more confidently and effectively.
