   Hello Sean,
   I've got the same problem as other people here. When i turn on the plugin in its original language, everything work fine. However, when i try to use chinese signs for my categories, i just get buggy signs like ¤$¤*%. Is there any way to solve this problem.

   My site is in Japanese and I had the same problem. I had a look at the database tables for wp link directory using phpMyAdmin and they were latin encoded. Changing these to utf-8 solved the problem - I can now see Japanese characters OK :) Hope this helps.
