Just downloaded the .zip (it’s not in a folder so new folks would have to make sure they create a folder themselves) and it’s telling me that a new version is available. I’m thinking the ‘new version’ is the old non-pro version.

#2 ChuckMcB on 11.25.08 at 9:25 pm

Suggestions/Issues:
- default the permlinks to off ’til you get a fix for the problem folks (link me) have when they use %postname% on their blog and clicking on the link takes them back to the front page.
- Save changes button on the paypal page is on the far right, the others are on the far left, confused me.
- It says “Your link (xx) has been added successfully, thanks!” even when all links have to be aproved.
- perhaps the email subject line should change is approval is on “xxx – New Link Added” should read “xxx – New Link Submitted for approval”
- email confirmation has a stray /n after the PR
- links submitted from the public front end do not seem to appear to be approved.
- Nothing seems to change when I enable Paid links, what should I be looking for?

hmmm…just toggled permlinks on then off…now I can’t get to the links page, keeps displaying the front page as if permlinks was still on..strange..

#4 nigel on 11.27.08 at 11:12 am

I don’t seem to be able to create categories. Which in turn means I can’t create a link!

It says “Category Added” but they are not listed.

Seems to be quite an important oversite!

#5 ChuckMcB on 11.27.08 at 3:29 pm

Strange. Categories are being created fine for me in my test site install.

#6 alcolick on 12.02.08 at 12:32 am

How i list last added 10 links with category on sidebar ?

I love your plugin. But I have attempted installation multiple times and continue to derive the same defect which you can see by visiting my Links page or from this code that shows on my Links page which I will paste here for your convenience…

Warning: mysql_result(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/mywebsite/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/WordPress-Link-Directory-Pro/link-directory.php on line 2207

Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/mywebsite/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/WordPress-Link-Directory-Pro/link-directory.php on line 2229

Both the standard and the pro versions produce the same defect for me. Please advise how I can make the defect vanish.

Thank you,
Bob

Additional clarification… I have tried installing with and without permalinks, and also using the /category/postname/ custom permalink code you suggested. Here’s the link to my Links page…

http://bobhilke.com/blog/?page_id=30

I look forward to your help sorting this out.

#9 Bob Hilke on 12.06.08 at 5:11 pm

Was able to solve the earlier problem by deleting one of my categories which apparently had a glitch in it. Then the remaining categories and the main Link page worked fine.

Hi,

I just tried to upgrade to the Pro version and all of my links do not appear on the page. Although they are still in the database and the counts are still displayed. I changed it back to the original version for now.

#11 matt on 12.11.08 at 12:25 pm

you might get the commission, but its an insult, 20 pages of crap offers to be able to download. Give us the option to send $5 instead

#12 Saul on 12.20.08 at 12:55 am

Hi!!

I installed the pro version of this plugin, I have a problem with PREMIUM links, cause when I click de BUY NOW button it didnt go to paypal or any other form to continue.. only shows a page from my own blog but with nothing like this:

http://www.cancunforos.com/directorio/?id=&action=process (Adress in my explorer/firefox windows)

Directorio
Home | Add URL | Link To Us | Search | Premium

And thats all, I activate and reactivate the plugin and run in test and normal mode but nothing…

Also configure it with my paypal account….

Can you help me with this?…

thank you very much!

#13 Saul on 12.20.08 at 12:56 am

im using WP 2.6.2

#15 Jan Paul on 12.28.08 at 5:46 pm

I get a complete blank, both on normal and pro version.

Any help appreciated as I would like the plugin to get up and running yesterday.

#16 Nile on 12.29.08 at 5:50 am

@ Jan Paul ; I went back to using 1.7.2 regular version and I am using WordPress version. However, there is only 1 issue I am having still. The other was mentioned already and solved.

@Sean: I think offering a Paypal buy now for the Pro Version for $5 is much better than filling out offers. I am in so much online that 800 spam mails a day that already make it past my SpamAssassin about drives me bonkers.

I am having a captcha issue when adding the site. I will see if I can work on it on my end though. I will post it on the other page where it is most relevant.

Thank you for developing such a great plugin.

I just installed Pro version and when going to Premium setup and clicking save, it returns me to the same setup page with nothing saved, thus having to re-enter every time. It won’t accept it.

Actually, it won’t save any of the settings, even in main setup page.

Hi, thanks for your super you want the plug! I wanted to ask, so I want to do the translation into Russian. Downloaded poedit, translated a few words, created two files wplinkdir-ru_RU.pot and wplinkdir-ru_RU.mo and the interface remains in English. What do I need to do to get my translation?
version of wordpress 2.5.1 (ru)

P.S. sorry for bad English :-)

#19 Andrew on 01.14.09 at 11:16 pm

Having the same issue with the setting pages not saving. I am using WP 2.7, could this be the issue. I know tghat you only tested it up to 2.6.3, or do you think it is a permissions issue?

#20 Andrew on 01.15.09 at 12:10 am

Ok I found the fix, but the ADD Url pages keep sending me back to my homepage

Any fixes?

#21 Tanim on 01.18.09 at 9:13 pm

Nice plugin! I’ll use this plugin to my new blog Drobon.com.

#22 Jomark Osabel on 01.31.09 at 6:51 am

I have just installed the latest version and it works great. Thanks Sean.

#23 JK Webmaster on 02.17.09 at 5:48 am

How about enabling unique Title tags for each page/category of the link directory?

Google appears to be counting all pages as duplicates since they share the same Title tag. This would be very useful fix to help ensure that link pages get spidered and indexed – which would hopefully lead to more link requests.

Example:
http://www.jockjerseys.com/flash/sports-links/

Note: I do have All-In-One-SEO installed and in-use, but there are no options for the link directory pages.

Any chance you can add custom Titles?

Thanks!

#24 Motion Picture Central on 02.23.09 at 11:08 pm

We are receiving this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_get_current_user() in /home/mphost/motionpicturecentral.com/wp-includes/capabilities.php on line 920

Any Suggestions?

#25 Refurbished PSP on 03.07.09 at 7:43 pm

Hey Thanks and I even get the pro version.I am just wondering is there a way to add a thumbnail of the links home page?

#26 24/7 WEBPROS on 03.15.09 at 1:47 am

Great Plugin … although when you change anything in the Admin area it doesn’t save? For instance we put in the ‘Flagging’ box just the word ‘Flag’ … hit save and it keeps going back to Flag Broken Link? Otherwise keep up the GREAT JOB! Will check for updates regularly.

#27 The B Team on 03.15.09 at 3:14 pm

Lately we’ve been having issues with our members adding URLs…the directory recognizes that their URL is already in the system when its not. Anyone having the same problem?

#28 24Seven on 03.15.09 at 10:03 pm

Great Plugin – Looking forward to the bug fixes – stands out from other link directory plugins.

#29 Philippine Sports News on 04.08.09 at 3:00 am

Yes, it’s a great plugin but still there’s some bugs that has to be fixed. Like the premium link as what other’s said. It doesn’t redirect to paypal for payment transactions when you click the link to paypal. With regards to installation, I think there’s no problem. Yes, hoping for some bug fixes.

#30 Dhan on 04.10.09 at 8:29 am

Yeah, bugfix is absolutely a must. I got all the errors as others have found. Great plugin, but still no use at least for now.

#31 Dhan on 04.10.09 at 10:08 am

Correction for my previous comment. I found the non-pro version is splendid. Just leave blank “Permalinks” option in this plugin setting page if you use custom permalinks in your Wordpress’s “Permalink” option.
This plugin is the greatest link exchange plugin for Wordpress. Period. The confusion is caused by out of date documentation and this “Pro” version is really unnecessary.

#32 flebert on 07.03.09 at 10:10 am

is a good idea for a directory script but have a big problem. pagination. What if you have 1000,2000 links? is no pagination in edit link administration, and never will load such a huge data. No pagination also for front end.

so much work from yr side but missed a very important thing what make the plugin really useful. is like a nice house without doors.
